Kicking off 2023 in Style
Shane and his team of horses have been soaking up the sun in the Middle East, enjoying a few months out in Dubai thanks to Team Z7! Of course, it’s been a jam-packed few months following the international circuit out there and the horses did not disappoint.
Cuick Star Kervec has gone from strength to strength and has fully established himself as a fan favourite. Adding clear round after clear round to his CV, he also made his CSIO5* Nations Cup debut with Team Ireland, jumping a crucial clear round to help the team come 3rd in Abu Dhabi. He then helped Team Ireland go one better to come 2nd in the CSIO4* Nations Cup in Sharjah.
Z7 Ipswich was back doing what he does best – bringing home the top results! Kicking off his 2023, he claimed 3rd in the 4* Ranking Class and 5th in the 4* 1.50 at Al Shira’aa Horse Show took home 2nd in the 5* Speed Stakes in Abu Dhabi and took the win in the 4* 1.45 Jump Off class in Sharjah as well as flying to 2nd in the 5* 1.50 the next week.Another stand-out star during the Dubai tour has been 8-year-old Instrumental. A new mare to Shane’s team and she’s already impressed the crowds in style. She’s made her mark in the 2* Grand Prix, making her debut at the Al Shira’aa Horse show, cinching 5th in Abu Dhabi and then taking the win in Sharjah – this mare is one to remember! Our other young horses also made notable appearances, with Geniale Star Kervec taking the win in the 7YO Finals at both Abu Dhabi and Sharjah whilst BE Stakkato took 2nd in Abu Dhabi. Z7 Regal Don was also in great form, winning the 2* 1.40 speed class in Abu Dhabi.
Just last week in Doha, Cuick finished just off the podium in the 5* 1.55 class to finish 4th, just 0.29 seconds behind the winner, but it was stablemate Haya who stole the show. She took the crown the first day in Doha in the 5* 1.45 class and then 2nd the next day – we love seeing this mare back on the big stage! Roll on the next show and first leg of the LGCT series – Doha!
