Golden Hawk Honoured in Bronze at Breen Equestrian’s Easter Monday Stud Open Day

Breen Equestrian marked a momentous occasion by unveiling a stunning bronze statue commemorating the legendary stallion ‘Golden Hawk’. Set against the blooming backdrop of their West Sussex yard, the statue was revealed in a touching tribute to one of the sport’s greats during their annual Stud Open Day.
Crafted by renowned equine sculptor Juliet Cursham, the statue captures Golden Hawk standing with quiet strength. It now has pride of place among the gardens at the heart of the yard at Breen Equestrian, a fitting tribute to the stallion’s remarkable career under the saddle of Shane Breen. Together, the pair soared to international acclaim, competing in Nations Cups and Grand Prix events and leaving a lasting legacy in the sport.
Adorned with flowing green, orange, and white ribbons for the unveiling, the statue was met with admiration and emotion from attendees.
“Golden Hawk has been such an important part of our journey,” said Shane Breen. “This statue is not only a tribute to his achievements; he was not just a competitor—he was a partner, a friend, and a cornerstone of our stud.”
A standout moment during the unveiling was when Golden Hawk approached the statue, creating a poignant image showcasing the Breen breeding legacy.
Visitors to the Stud Open Day enjoyed the parade of stallions, guided tours, and the opportunity to meet the team behind one of the UK’s most successful showjumping breeding programs. The unveiling ceremony was the emotional centrepiece, drawing a warm crowd of breeders, riders, and fans from across the country.
Golden Hawk’s influence continues through his progeny, many of whom are already establishing impressive careers in international arenas and achieving success at the highest levels of the sport.
