Breen Equestrian Auction 2024
As the final hammer fell on a magnificent night in the Beethoven Suite, the Breen Equestrian 2024 Auction, in collaboration with Hickstead Events, marked a milestone of unparalleled success!
Eleven lots were brought forward yesterday evening, and there was some incredibly tense bidding for the exciting horses offered on the market.
Our top lot was Lot 3 – BE Thiassi, the impressive & talented 6-year-old mare by Cuick Star Kervec out of an Andiamo mare who qualified for the 2024 WBFSH World Breeding Championships in Lanaken by claiming 2nd place in the 6-year-old British Championship at the British Young Horse Championships. Following a tense bidding battle between the auction floor & a phone bidder, the hammer finally dropped at £315,000 to the lucky new owner.
Lot 8 – BE Ballantine, the lovely 4-year-old Breen Equestrian homebred mare- by Shane’s top stallion, Golden Hawk, out of a mare sired by Shane’s Nations Cup ride Balloon, sold for £105,000. Our other 4-year-olds also sold well, with Lot 1 – BE Golden Air selling to McCoppin & Brown Sports Horses for £43,000 and Lot 12 – BE Zalkow selling to Tracey Forrest for £28,000.
Two promising 7-year-olds also sold impressively—Lot 7—Moonlight, which reached £165,000 on the auction floor, and Lot 4—Pino X, which sold online for £145,000. We’re super excited to follow these future stars in their new homes!
Congratulations to the winning bidders on their new horses. We look forward to following these young stars under their new riders.
A huge thank you to the Hickstead and production team for making a last-minute change to move our entire auction from Hickstead Place to the Beethoven Suite due to the biblical weather that the show witnessed over the past few days – it was a massive effort to pull off a spectacular evening, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
To the entire Breen Team, all we can say is thank you. From the office team to those working day in and day out with these horses and everyone who makes Breen Equestrian possible, we truly couldn’t do it without you.
The Breen Equestrian Auction is over and out for 2024. Until next year…..
