All Hands On Deck In March

Posted on May 15, 2024

Another jam-packed month at Breen Equestrian, with a team of horses over in Italy and gearing up for our Stud Open Day, it has been all hands on deck!

After a very successful season in The UAE, Shane headed straight to Arezzo and picked up right where he left off! Scarteen jumped into 4th place in the CSI3* 1.45, and Shane steered 9yrs Koh-I-Noor to 2nd place in the CSI4* 1.35. Following his win at CSI5* Sharjah just last month, Z7 Ipswich flew into 3rd place in the CSI4* 1.45 class.

It was great to see Cato Boy back in action, picking up 10th place in the CSI3* 1.35. Darcy picked up the reins of homebred BE Qvikly Star for the week, jumping clears in the CSI1* 1.20 classes, following on from her success at POYS where she came 2nd in the JA/JC Qualifier on One Saharah.

Pino X (Plot Blue x For Pleasure) showed his consistency with 7th and 4th place in the CSI1* 1.20 classes and 3rd in the CSI1* 1.25. By week three, he had stepped up to jump the 7-year-old classes and finished 3rd in the 7-year-old Grand Prix! There is lots to come from this superstar young horse!

We welcomed all breeding enthusiasts to Hickstead Place for The 2024 edition of our Stud Open Day. With expert demonstrations from Shane on both the stallions themselves and their progeny, it was an incredible turnout! We welcomed guest speaker Jack Broek from the Dutch stable Stal Broek, who gave us an interesting perspective on all the British-bred horses and stallions. We were also joined by Red Mills and The AES Studbook, were we aimed to give all aspiring breeders a chance to pick our teams brains to gain more insight into our breeding programme. The day rounded off with a tour of the immaculate facilities and exciting young stock at Pook Bourne Stud, it was an incredible turn out – we are already excited for next year.

Following such a successful day, stallions Colmar, Z7 Mevano, Lucky Luck, and Opportunity have all received updated stallion gradings from AES Studbook!
