A Decade Of Dedication – Thank you Greg Le Gear

Since arriving from Germany to work for Breen Equestrian in 2014, Greg Le Gear has been an integral member of the Breen Equestrian family. Starting as a rider, groom and yard manager ten years ago, Greg helped to successfully produce the young horses whilst managing the day-to-day running of the competition yard. When he decided that the time had come to establish his competition yard, based locally at Stuccles farm with his partner and husband Badr Al Omran, his role at Breen Equestrian evolved to looking after and managing the breeding operation at Pook Bourne Stud. Greg’s passion for breeding and his belief in and support of British breeding have grown hand in hand with the operation at Breen’s.
Greg has been instrumental in ensuring the health, well-being, and success of Breen’s breeding operation throughout ten breeding seasons and oversaw the stud’s relocation from Naldrett’s Farm to Pook Bourne Stud Farm, just to the east of the All England Jumping Course, Hickstead. His commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and his invaluable knowledge of mares, stallions and young stock is second to none.

Greg has always had the future of British breeding at the forefront of his mind. He is on hand to lend his expertise to other breeders from all spheres and disciplines. Whether discussing bloodlines, stallion choices, mare management or foal and youngstock care, Greg is incredibly personable and knowledgeable.
He avidly supports other British breeders, stud owners, British breeding events and British sport horse auctions, as well as hosting stallion and mare grading events and foal and young stock futurities for other breed societies at Breen Equestrian, giving local breeders in West Sussex greater access and opportunities to promote and display their young stock.
Each season, Greg welcomes local schools, pony clubs and riding clubs to Pook Bourne Stud for informative demonstrations to foster and encourage their interest in sport horse breeding.
“Greg is extremely dedicated and passionate about British Breeding and promoting the UK as the place for buyers to turn to when purchasing the best quality horses in the world. He is constantly looking to find ways to achieve this and is actively implementing strategies to meet that goal.” – Natty Biderman, Breen Equestrian Stable Manager.

“Greg has been one of the key persons in the development of Pook Bourne Stud. Greg’s attention to detail is second to none, both with the horses and clients. I am very proud to have worked with him the last ten years – I look forward to many more with Greg & Badar Al Omran.” – Shane Breen.
“Greg is an exceptionally selfless and driven individual who believes wholeheartedly in British breeding and in doing everything possible to cement its place in world breeding. We are very proud of all that he has achieved for us at Breen Equestrian and are very lucky to have him as part of our team.” – Chloe Breen.
Thank you, Greg – and here’s to the next ten years!
