3* Grand Prix Wins, Nations Cup Call Ups & The First Hickstead of the Year!

With the first Hickstead of the year in the books, Darcy & Shane taking part in Nations Cups and a magical two weeks at Bolesworth – Breen Equestrian have been busy!

June kicked off with Darcy compeiting under the British flag at CSIO-Y Zuidwolde. Putting in some fantastic performances, including a clear round in the CSIOP Grand Prix, we could not be prouder of Darcy and One Saharah getting another team call-up this year!

Shane and his team had a phenomenal two weeks at CSI2*/3* Bolesworth. New team member LMD Marko jumped two clear rounds in the CSI2* 1.35s, whilst homebred BE Golden picked up 5th place in the CSI2* Small Grand Prix. Shane and Cato Boy had a faultless week in the 1.40’s and 1.45’s, ending on a high by taking 2nd in the CSI2* LR Grand Prix! Our new young superstar ’Konrad Obolensky’ shone brightly in the CSIYH1* 7-year-old classes, placing 6th on the first day and finishing in 2nd place in the 7-year-old Grand Prix. Picking up right where they left off for week two, Shane and ‘Konrad’ jumped only clear rounds, finishing 8th in the week two CSIYH1* 7yrs Final!

BE Golden did one better in the CSI2* Small Tour Grand Prix this week by taking the win after jumping clear in day one’s 1.40. BP Artic Blue finished his week with 2nd place in the CSI1* 1.35 Grand Prix. The star of the show, homebred Scarteen, pulled it out of the bag once again to win the CSI3* Grand Prix! An unforgettable two weeks for Breen Equestrian, with fantastic results!

Back on home turf, the whole Breen Equestrian geared up for the first Hickstead of the year. Koh-I-Noor jumped the CSI4* Hickstead Masters Trophy, finishing an impressive 2nd place with Shane. As for The prestigious Hickstead Derby, Fan Fan De Beaufour had his first trip around the course, expertly piloted to 4th place – an exciting derby horse for the future!

As for the national horses, Konrad Obolenky carried on his impressive form to finish 6th in the Beethoven 7/8yo Final in the main ring, whilst stablemate LMD Marko finished 4th in the 1.35 final. Dougie Breen and Chris Warren dressed to the nines for Saturday Night Mini Major, winning the best-dressed pairing! Our riders Katie, Alice, Lauren and Liam did a fantastic job of piloting our young horses to more great results, including Z7 For T finishing 5th in the 5-year-old final on his main ring debut with Lauren as well as Katie giving Z7 Pink Panther a brilliant trip around the 6-year-old final in the main ring!

Next on the calendar for Shane was CSIO3* Praha. BE Golden impressed in the CSIO3* 1.45 Ranking Class, flying to 10th place, showcasing his class and ability. Flying the flag for Ireland with Cato Boy. They jumped clear in the opening 1.45, then jumped as part of Team Ireland in the Nations Cup, where the Irish team finished in Silver position.
