Vilamoura Champions Tour 2020 – The Final Week

The final week of competition in this year’s Champions Tour brought great success for Team Breen. 

With a slightly altered schedule to accommodate next week’s Nations Cup, Shane and Haya were in action and clear in the 4* 1.40 on Tuesday, while Z7 Ipswich came 8th in his section of the same class for 15th overall. But it was Georgia who stormed to victory in this 172 strong competition, with and unbelievably quick and clear round aboard Quintella. She was also clear in the same with the ever impressive Lady Star van Dorperheide, while Sjelle was clear in the 1.30. 

On Wednesday, Shane and Gait L were clear in the 4* 1.35 as were Jack and Cuick Star Kervec. Georgia and Evita were clear and in the money in the 4* 1.50 and backing up her performance from the day before, Quintella was 2nd in the 4* 1.40Lady Star van Dorperheide continued to impress, taking 11th in the same class. 

In the 4* 1.40 on ThursdayShane and the Old Lodge owned Haya were in the money, Jack and BBS McGregor and Essenar High Hopes were 6th and 12th in their sections respectively while Georgia and Sjelle were 5th overall.  Jack also recorded a lovely clear round aboard Cuick Star Kervec in the 1.35. 

Shane and Gait L were in the prizes in the 4* 1.35 on Friday and on Saturday he and Vistogrand were 13th in the 4* 1.30Georgia and Z7 Porche jumped clear in the 5-year-old classes across the weekend. 

While several horses began their journey back to England on Saturday, Shane, Georgia and Jack have remained in Portugal with a selection of rides for this coming week’s CSIO3* invitational, which will include the Nation’s Cup competition for Georgia and Shane.
