Breen success at the South of England Show

The recent South of England Show provided three days of high class competition with Breen Equestrian’s own riders and those who train with us taking away the lion’s share of the spoils.

 

The premier class on Thursday, the Area International Trial was won by Trevor Breen on Adventure de Kannan with Shane 6th on Ominerale Courcelle. In the second ring Darragh McCarthy and Zoffany took the Newcomers, with Skyfall, ridden by Shane in 6th. The 1.25 Speed class followed with Fragile d’Or ridden by Shane 4th and Wayfer, ridden by Sarah Lewis 5th. The next class was the Horse of the Year Show Grade C qualifier. This prestigious and highly competitive class was won by Jokalux ridden by Aoife O’Connor, with David Simpson and Global van ‘t Braunerhof 4th. Aoife and Jokalux were last to go in the jump-off they brought the class to an incredibly exciting conclusion. The Foxhunter class which followed brought a 5th place for Michaela Tomlinson on Mr Mee, with Darragh rounding off a very good first day, 4th on Whisper S in the 1.35.

 

Jokalux HOYS Grade CTorrential rain on day two failed to deter David Simpson and his own eight year old Concorde son, Arantos, who were second in the International Stairway competition, the class bringing a second win for Trevor on Adventure de Kannan. In Ring 2 Zoffany was 3rd in the Newcomers ridden by Darragh, with Serpico ridden by David 5th. Sarah was 5th in the Foxhunter on Doonaveeragh Emma and Darragh was 5th in the 1.30 on Whisper S.

 

The sun shone again on Saturday in time for Darragh to record a very exciting win in the R&R Stevenson Grade C Championship on Whisper S. The last class of the show was the Grand Prix where David was the only rider with two horses through to the jump-off. He finished 2nd on Hermoine IV and 3rd on Arantos.
